Sudden shutdown of Casino Midas
January 23, 2015Without warning Casino Midas has closed operation with a message on their homepage to UK residents stating they can no longer access the site. An apology message also explains that the online casino was notified in December by payment providers in regards to potential regulatory issues.
Casino Midas is the latest casualty in the legions of online casino closures following the implementation of licensing changes made by the UK Gambling Commission on November 1st, 2014.
This should not be a surprise as all online casinos were warned that the new regulation changes would most likely result in closure of payment systems used to process requests from UK based players for Curacao based gambling operators.
All deposits and current pending bets from UK players have been ceased as of Monday, January 12th. The players who have funds remaining in their casino accounts have been asked to contact customer support via support@casinomidas.com to withdraw any money that they might have left.
The changes stemming from November 2014 have affected tons of smaller operators. The new regulations prevent operators to offer online casino services to UK players if all they have is a gaming license from a foreign jurisdiction. As a gaming operator you must now apply and acquire a UK gaming license, this has left all of the power players in the market but kicked a large portion of the smaller ones out thus leaving less choice of where to play to the people.
